First, apply on the phone by calling 643-5555.
Then, follow the instruction from counselor.
For the
first 4 weeks, you will ask a lot of questions.
Week 1 - make the first call to report your FIRST WEEK (11/21-27)
between Sun, 11/28
and Sat, 12/4. This is only to report!!!! Don't expect to
get paid for this week. This is your "waiting period." You may receive
another UI Card to remind you next call.
Week 2- make the first call to report your FIRST WEEK (11/21-27) between
Sun, 12/5 and Sat, 12/11. You are reporting your official "PAID week".
This is your first single-week call. You will receive another UI Card to
remind you next call with your check.
Week 3- Sunday, 12/12 report your 2nd single-week claim. You will receive
another UI Card to remind you next call with your check.
Week 4- Do nothing... enjoy your Christmas!
Week 5-
Sunday, 12/26.
Get into the routine to report your bi-weekly claim until your UI runs out.
This is
just a mini worksheet to file and claim UI payments.
The maximum UI benefit is only $417 weekly, before tax.

Helpful Info after
You Got Laid Off |
-
MEDICAL: If you
choose NOT to take COBRA, shop around for best
insurance offer. It would take over 60 days for
approval at Kaiser. Keep all of your insurance cards,
you can still use your insurance & Rx only if chose COBRA.
Call SHPS (800-277-4038) office for your premium
amount. Plan ahead!
-
MONEY: Make
sure you know when the bills are due, especially,
automatic bill payment with direct deposit. When you
had money coming in and taking out all automatically,
you get hurt when you missed the dates. I learned this
the hard way.
-
FAMILY: Because
you have more free time, spend some quality time with
your loved ones. Let them hear about experiences.
Hopefully, they'll listen and give you feedback. It's
tough to go thru unemployment by yourself. Join a
support group if you need to.
-
FINANCIAL: Make
some plans early and identify about how much you have
now and if any future income while unemployed. Weight
your risk during this time. Make lifestyle changes if
you have to, i.e., eat out less often, picnic in a
park instead of going to movies.
-
FREE TIME: While
not looking for a job, don't let yourself get lazy.
It's time to regroup and rethink. This is your
opportunity to learn other skills or simply enhance
your valuable knowledge. Do something fun and
meaningful, like going to library, hanging out with
friends, or watch the beautiful Hawaii sunsets. Just
FYI, not all sunsets look same. (See
Sunset Photos)

Humor me with this |
I know how you feel
about those hard earned stuff.
Don't throw away those stuff from General Store
at AT&T Hawaii!
Soon, we'll have a GENERAL STORE SWAP MEET to
buy, sell and trade your favorite AT&T Hawaii
Merchandise. (Shhh... they will be among those
collector's items in an antique store nears you.
Especially, it says "AT&T Local Service")
