Description:

A typical urban zoo with Lions, Tigers, Elephants, Turtles and other animals, but with a large dose of local and tropical animals thrown in for good measure. Makes for an interesting zoo experience with lush grounds and maundering paths to explore. All with Diamond Head as a back drop and tropical Hawaii as the setting. Much to see and enjoy here. A must do while on vacation in Hawaii.

Directions:

The Zoo is within walking distance from most places in Waikiki. But if you want to drive take either Kalakaua Ave or Kuhio Ave to Kapahulu Ave. There is a parking lot located on Kapahulu Ave. Parking is just 25 cents per hour. And the Zoo and Waikiki Aquarium are just a short walk away.

Serval

The Serval is located in the Savanna Aviary. It is a carnivorous feline that feeds on small hoofed mammals, birds and rodents in it's native habitat of the African Savannas and woodlands. The Serval  pictured here is named Felix and he seems right at home surround by the birds in the Savanna Aviary.

Some of the birds are allowed to roam free in the Aviary so it is a good place to observe natural bird behavior without the obstruction of a cage. Of course Felix is in a separate cage of his own inside the Aviary.
