Kaena Point is the tip
of the island on the Leeward coast of Oahu. It is the western most tip
of the island.

Kaneana gives a great view of Kaena
Point. There is also a cave on the opposite side of the road
from this turn out. The cave is not very big, but worth a quick
look.

Ko Olina
Ko Olina
If you
want to be away from the crowds of urban Honolulu, give Ko
Olina a try. A new planned development on Oahu's Leeward
coast, Ko Olina offers the visitors to the islands a more
relaxed experience of Oahu with out the crowds, hustle and
bustle of Waikiki. But you will be missing the shopping,
street life and nightlife of Waikiki. Ko Olina is a master
planned community featuring residential condos, a golf
course, marina, several hotels and manmade lagoons. It feels
a little overly done and fake. It is targeted more towards
the upscale traveler. Yet, it lacks the natural beauty of
Waikiki with its upbeat urban life or the North Shore's
hippie new age persona or the quaint beachside charm of
Kailua.
If you want to just visit the beaches at Ko Olina for the
day there are some things you need to know. One each lagoon
has a parking lot but with a limited number of spaces.
On the weekends many locals visit this area so parking
becomes a problem. Also Ko Olina post monitors at each lot.
These monitors will not allow more than 3 cars to be waiting
for parking. They will ask you to "move on". Two there are no
convince stores located here except for what is in the
hotels. So bring everything you will need for a fun day at the
beach.
